Betsy Ross Crossing – Coming Soon!

Anticipated Opening Summer 2025!

Betsy Ross Crossing is currently under construction – adjacent to and attached to the existing seven-story Betsy Ross House, which contains 123 affordable units for seniors 62 and over and was built in 1999. Betsy Ross Crossing will consist of one six-story building with 52 apartments, all of which will be subsidized and restricted to persons who are fifty-five years of age and older (55+) and making 60% of Area Median Income (AMI) or less.  The unit mix will consist of 51 one-bedroom apartments and 1 two-bedroom apartment. One-bedroom units will range in size from 564 to 613 square feet and the two-bedroom unit will be 907 square feet.

Preference on the waiting list will be given to applicants on a Section 8 or Public Housing waiting list, applicants that live or work in South Portland, and Veterans.

Applicants already on waiting lists for other housing programs must apply separately for these programs and will not lose their place on other waiting lists when they apply.

To apply, applicants should complete and submit the SPHA Property Application with the required documentation.

If you need help completing the pre-application due to disability, you can make a reasonable accommodation request by calling South Portland Housing Authority at (207) 773-4140 ext. 220.
