
Welcome, in early 1943, the South Portland Housing Authority was established to provide defense housing for the numerous families that were moving into the area in the defense war effort industry in South Portland.
When the Federal Government liquidated defense housing after World War II, the South Portland Housing Authority was established with the following mission statement:

The mission of the South Portland Housing Authority is to provide quality housing for low to moderate income, elderly, individuals with disabilities and families in need.
